The Nazareth Area FOOD BANK
Find Help – We are an all-volunteer, non-profit, federally tax exempt 501 (c)(3) organization
Now more than 35 years old, the Nazareth Area Food Bank is a regional, all-volunteer 501 (c) (3) public charity that relies entirely on donations of food items and dollars to obtain the food it provides to clients.
Throughout its history, the Nazareth Area Food Bank has operated on an honor system for eligibility, with clients coming for food as they feel they need. The food bank does not ask personal financial information.
The food bank distributes food once a month during four sessions as follows:
- From 7:30 to 10 a.m. and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month,
- From 7:30 to 10 a.m. on the following Wednesday,
- From 9 to 11 a.m. on the following Saturday.
NAFB accepts donations of food items – both non-perishable and perishable (in season) – from 5:30 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday, and from 9 to 11 a.m. every Friday and Saturday.
To receive food regularly, clients must live within the six municipalities that make up the Nazareth Area School District – the boroughs of Nazareth, Stockertown and Tatamy and Bushkill, Lower Nazareth and Upper Nazareth Townships. The food bank registers clients once each year. The registration form is available at (link).
Check all Nazareth during the session they have chosen (or been assigned). Using carts, food bank volunteers wheel the food and other items to clients’ cars while clients wait inside their vehicles.
Because the food bank serves well over 150 families and individuals, delivery of food to clients’ homes is not possible. As a matter of policy, NAFB will give food to people who don’t live within the Nazareth Area School District once on an emergency basis while steering them to food pantries that serve the areas where they live.
The food bank has been blessed throughout its history to have been supported by contributions of food and dollars from individual donors, churches, schools, businesses, charitable foundations, service clubs, Scouting groups, school athletic teams and other organizations.
Food bank volunteers sort through donated non-perishable food items for the use by dates and condition of the packaging.
The Nazareth Area Food Bank Board of Directors and volunteers are very passionate and understanding the need for assistance beyond our means. We hope you find the resources below helpful.
